Hoover Dam Rafting Accessibility Overview

Terrain and Pathways

  • Check-in Areas:
    • Regular Raft Tour: The check-in area includes a combination of gravel and concrete surfaces. There are three steps leading to the desk, but a ramp is available. Staff can meet guests outside if needed.
    • Post Card Tour: Check-in is on a level concrete surface.
  • Launch Site:
    • Features a concrete pathway leading to a rocky shoreline.
    • There is a downhill slope to access the rafts, and terrain can vary with water levels.
    • Boarding requires traversing rocky ground at the shoreline.

Public Areas

  • Regular Raft Tour: The check-in deck is a wooden platform with a wheelchair-accessible ramp. Exterior doors are not automated.
  • Post Card Tour: Restrooms are inside a building with an automated entry door.

Parking

  • Regular Raft Tour:
    • Located in a gravel lot.
    • 10 dedicated parking spots near the check-in area.
  • Post Card Tour:
    • Multiple spots available on flat concrete.
    • Shuttle pick-up is nearby.
    • The launch site is approximately a 15-minute shuttle ride from check-in.

Flooring

  • Regular Raft Tour:
    • Indoor flooring is laminate vinyl.
    • Check-in deck is wood with a ramp.
  • Post Card Tour:
    • Outdoor check-in area is concrete.

Shuttle Service

  • One shuttle bus is equipped with a wheelchair lift.
  • Advance notice is appreciated to ensure the vehicle is available and included in the day’s transportation plan.
