From the base of the Hoover Dam to the rugged mountains surrounding Willow Beach, a raft tour on the Black Canyon Raft will offer unforgettable views along the lower Colorado River. At Black Canyon River Adventures, we offer a one-of-a-kind a Black Canyon Raft Tour on the first National Water Trail in the southwestern United States.

Here are just a few reasons to go on this special tour during your next southwest vacation:

Spectacular Natural Scenery

Black Canyon is a remote portion of the lower Colorado River. Prior to the completion of the Hoover and Davis Dams, Black Canyon was home to some of the most dangerous rapids along the Colorado. But with the dams, the river now flows placidly towards Lake Mohave.

As the river meanders through the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, you will pass towering cliffs, intriguing coves and inviting sandy beaches. Desert bighorn sheep can often be seen scaling the cliff walls, while bald eagles, peregrine falcons and waterfowl soar in the overhead skies.

Stunning Manmade Marvels

Our Black Canyon River Tour begins at the Hoover Dam. Designated a National Civil Engineering Landmark in 1984, the Hoover Dam created Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States. But the dam is not the only manmade marvel you will see along your raft tour.

When you pass Ringbolt Rapids, you will no longer encounter some of the most challenging rapids of the Colorado River. However, if you look up 50 yards up on the Arizona side of the river, you will see one of the large iron ringbolts that gave the rapids their name. This ring is one of many that were used to pull steamboats up through the tumultuous water in the mid-to-late 1800s.

As you approach Willow Beach, where your raft tour ends, you will have the opportunity to see a gauging station and cable car that were once used to monitor the water levels and flow rate of the Colorado River. These amazing historical structures were in use before and during the construction of the Hoover Dam.

Come explore one of the most serene stretches of the Colorado River with a Black Canyon Raft Tour. Along the way, you will learn about the history, geology and wildlife of the area from one of our expert guides. Contact us today to book your raft tour with Black Canyon River Adventures.
