Top Three Tips for Boat Safety
At Black Canyon River Adventures, we are committed to providing tours of the beautiful Black Canyon National Water Trail that are fun, informative, and most of all, safe. We work hard to ensure all of our equipment is in good repair and complies with all mandatory regulations. Moreover, our skilled raft tour guides are trained in boat safety and appropriate procedures in the unlikely event of an emergency.
Here are three important boating safety tips for your next rafting trip:
1. Listen to the Safety Information
When you first board the raft, your Black Canyon River Adventures tour guide will review all safety information. This includes the location of life vests, how to properly secure one, and so much more. It is extremely important to pay attention to this short presentation. In the event of an emergency, there may not be time to review the information before you need to use it. Moreover, there are almost always first-time rafters on our tours, so even if you are an experienced boater, we ask that you listen respectfully to ensure everyone else can be informed.
2. Speak Up
If have a question about safety on the tour or are not sure you understood some of the safety information, please speak up. Occasionally, on a raft tour, one of our guests will have an unexpected medical issue arise. Please let your tour guide know so they can provide immediate assistance. If you or one of your guests has a medical condition that you may an issue during the trip, you can always inform one of our guides ahead of time so they can respond quickly in case of an emergency.
3. Sun Safety
The tall cliffs of the Black Canyon do create areas of shade along the Black Canyon National Water Trail, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have any sun exposure on the trip. The desert sun is powerful, especially when you are out on the water. Wear sunscreen on your rafting trip and remember to reapply as necessary. For added protection, we also recommend wearing a hat and sunglasses.
At Black Canyon River Adventures, we take the safety of our guests seriously. Keep these top tips in mind so you can enjoy our exciting adventures, knowing you are in good hands. Contact us today for more information or to book your tour.
