What To Do At Gold Strike Hot Springs
Gold Strike Hot Springs is a natural oasis that seems like it appeared straight out of an adventurer’s dream. These incredible hot springs can relax and restore the body, mind and spirit, but in order to enjoy this natural wonder, hikers must endure the challenging trail that leads to them.
The effort is well worth it, however. Here are a few of the things you can see and do at Gold Strike Hot Springs:
Go Cliff Jumping
After descending the canyon and completing at least eight different ropes courses, you will find yourself on the banks of Colorado River at the bottom of the canyon. Here is the perfect spot to release the tension and stress from hiking and go cliff jumping.
Look for Wildlife
The Gold Strike Canyon is home to a wide variety of wildlife species, many of whom like to peek their heads out while hikers are descending to the hot springs. Hikers should keep an eye out, and their camera ready, in case they have a chance to get an up-close look at the fantastic animals who live within the walls of the canyon.
Take a Dip in the Hot Springs
Due to the geothermal activity in the canyon, there are natural hot springs and hot waterfalls throughout the entire hike. Temperatures in the natural hot springs range from 85 to 105 degrees, offering complete and total relaxation to anyone who chooses to take a dip. It should be noted that temperatures get dangerously hot in the late spring, summer, and early fall. The hot springs are closed to hikers from May to October each year.
Get a Photo with the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge
As the canyon opens up and the Colorado River rolls onto shore, hikers will also enjoy a panoramic view of the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. This is the perfect photo opportunity of this iconic Nevada site.
